Remembering a Pro-Life Hero

Thank You Nellie Gray!

Nellie Gray, founder of the annual March for Life, passed away over the weekend.  Nellie was a dedicated pro-life leader, presiding over 38 March for Life events, and left behind a legacy of people who have been inspired by her work in the pro-life movement.

What she believed would be a one time gathering of pro-lifers in 1974 turned into an annual event that grew from 20,000 people to an estimated 500,000 this past year.  Nellie was called to be a defender of life and let nothing stop her from making sure the pro-life voice was heard each year in our nation’s capital.

Upon hearing the news of her passing last night, Kristan Hawkins wrote, “Today marks a bittersweet moment for the pro-life movement, a great warrior for the pre-born, Nellie Gray, has left this earth and entered her eternal reward. Pro-life students from across the nation will be forever grateful for the leadership that Nellie Gray has provided to our movement, for founding the March for Life, and setting an example of passion and perseverance that inspires us all to dedicate our lives to finishing what she started, abolishing abortion in our lifetime.”
